Wellbeing help and resources
Wellbeing is at the core of everything we do and should be pursued in all aspects of life, including the workplace. While work can often be viewed as just a means to earn a living, it’s essential to recognise that we spend a significant portion of our lives working. So, it’s crucial to prioritise our mental health at work, rather than considering it a mere luxury. We need to proactively focus on maintaining our wellbeing, rather than fixing it when something goes wrong.
Research consistently shows there’s a strong positive relationship between people engagement and business performance. When we feel valued, supported and find meaning in our work, we’re more likely to be engaged and our wellbeing improves. We become more productive, innovative and committed to achieving the organisation’s goals. We’re also more likely to go the extra mile, deliver high-quality work and contribute to a positive work culture.
Wellbeing – the benefits
Organisations that prioritise employee wellbeing and create a supportive, psychologically safe working environment benefit from:
- Reduced absenteeism
- Reduced turnover rates of people
- Improved customer satisfaction
- Increased profitability
- Better organisational performance
75% of respondents in a study by Deloitte said
that the ‘evolving role of HR was important
or very important for their success
over the next 12 to 18 months’.
In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined
good mental health as ‘a state of wellbeing in which
an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope
with the normal stresses of life, can work productively,
and is able to make a contribution to his or her community‘.
51% of all work-related ill health in 2020
was attributed to anxiety and depression.
It’s all about PERMA…
Poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion each year. This is a rise of 16% since 2016 – an extra £6 billion a year.
Deloitte, 2020

- Engagement – performance, positive mindset, reduced depression
- Relationships – revitalizers, mood enhances, trust
- Meaning – performance fuelled by meaningful purpose, brings organisational values to life
- Accomplishment – feel good, in control, valued contribution
